Biography:

Dr. Ellen Furman serves as the Director of Nursing at American International College, where she oversees both undergraduate and graduate programs. Her tenure at AIC began in 2012 as undergraduate faculty. She became Associate Director of Graduate Nursing in 2013 and transitioned to interim Director of Nursing in 2018 before assuming her current role.

Dr. Furman has practiced nursing across the continuum of care, with a specific population interest of older adults. She is a board-certified gerontological clinical nurse specialist and has presented her research on aging and related topics at local, regional, and national conferences.

Her teaching experience spans undergraduate and graduate nursing courses, including pharmacology, nursing research, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, advanced health assessment, professional writing in nursing, nursing education, and nursing leadership. Dr. Furman’s educational philosophy emphasizes partnering with students to achieve successful learning outcomes, integrating evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and dissemination of results.
