Biography:

Professor Mary Tarbell has nearly 50 years of experience as a practicing nurse, including 40 years as a nurse educator and clinician. She earned her master’s degree in nursing at Saint Joseph University in West Hartford, CT, with a focus on family health nursing and care for homeless and at-risk families in teen parenting circumstances. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from American International College in Springfield, MA.

Professor Tarbell’s areas of expertise include critical care, ambulatory nursing, maternal/newborn care, and extensive experience in nursing management roles. She spent several years as faculty and served as Academic Dean/Director of Nursing at Springfield Technical Community College. In 2015, she transitioned to the role of RN/BSN Coordinator at American International College and continues to teach in the undergraduate BSN and Master’s nursing programs.

Professor Tarbell holds active memberships in Beta Zeta at Large of Sigma Theta Tau International MARLIN, the Massachusetts Rhode Island League for Nursing, and the National League for Nursing. She has had several professional abstracts accepted and has presented nationally, regionally, and locally on numerous topics across the nursing education spectrum. She is licensed to practice nursing in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
